Covid-19 Update

Today during Governor Newsom’s COVID-19 update it was announced that again, businesses like MidState CrossFit in Merced County would have to close all indoor activities. While we share in the governor’s concern for the general population and the need to be vigilant, our approach has been different, and it will continue to be.

MidState opened before Merced was officially opened and we will remain open now that it is closed again. We did this by being proactive in communicating with the county and by creating our mitigation plan. We will continue all of our standard operations which include; preregistration for class, our questionnaire, and by continuing our social distancing practices.

There are three scenarios in which MidState will close:

  1. Gabby or Brian contract Covid-19. If this occurs we will close the business and quarantine until both of us are Covid negative.

  2. The questionnaires begin to show signs of a possible “in-community” outbreak. Our threshold is low and we will be decisive in our decisions if we believe MidState is being directly effected by Covid-19

  3. The county or city government choose to change their position. If the government comes to our place of business and force us to close our doors, we will follow local authority directive.

We do not make this decision without thinking about all of the variables. We honestly believe that the best way to fight infection is to have a robust immune system, to have a robust immune system we must tax it through exercise. This in addition to plenty of Vitamin D, sleep, and proper diet are huge factors in fighting disease.

Some easy steps that will keep us all safe at MidState are as follows; If you feel sick, stay home and quarantine until tested negative. If you have an exposure to Covid-19, such as another member in your household or circle please take some time away from the gym. If you are out in public please wear a face mask to minimize community exposure at large. When you enter the gym, wash your hands before and after class. In class practice social distancing. Clean every piece of equipment you touch. Finally, we can not stress this enough, be kind.
