It Was Never About The Nail

“You do not need to workout to hang out”. You will hear Coach Brian say this regularly at MidState CrossFit, and that is because we really want you around, we want MidState CrossFit to be the third space in our members lives. Often athletes will come in early, stay late, have their kids doing homework on the couch, and that is exactly the way we like it.

Building upon Coach Gabby’s last WOD Blog about vulnerability. Often coaches are the sounding board for athletes for workouts and exercise but in our pursuit of health and wellness this is just the beginning. Building upon the principles of diet and exercise, it is essential we also consider the mental and emotional well being of our athletes. Continue to communicate, you have a confidant in us.

Why be so open with our athletes? For us it is very simple, life long health. If an athlete feels heard, how much more likely are they to trust the process and journey set before them. Our coaching staff is ready to meet you where you are, sit down and have water, coffee, and/or fit aid, listen to you and empathize and then hit the WOD right along with you. Though we may feel strongly that we have the solution, we are also ready to listen and understand.

Please watch the attached video that we think may help highlight how important listening can really be.
