Good Gym Etiquette

2022 Update

It has been 1 year since we last released the etiquette page. Lots of floor layout changes, thought it would be a good time to just review best practice on navigating MidState CrossFit. Please review and continue to have the best hour of your day here at MidState CrossFit.

Here are some simple guidelines to best reflect our gym culture and allow us to foster a fun, safe, clean, and respectful environment for everyone in our community. This is not every rule nor is it intended to be. What we want to do is create a safe, courteous, and respectful environment for others and our equipment.

Community First

Give us feedback. We want to hear from members and coaches about the good and bad. The only way to get better or to know there is a problem is in a culture of open communication.

No such thing as a new kid on the block. Please introduce yourself, help individuals get acquainted with our community. Always lean on the MidState CrossFit mission statement written on the wall, often the actionable way to live the mission statement is to be kind and inviting.

No one left behind. Cheer on our friends!

Safety

The class always comes first. If an athlete wants to train extra, please have athletes use the additional training area near the Plyometric Boxes or in the “Kids” room. There is plenty of room at MidState CrossFit for all sorts of activity, but the main floor is for the classroom experience.

Be present for the White Board Briefs and for coaching demonstrations.

Stay unplugged. No headphones on the gym floor during class. If we have a music change request we will oblique to the best of our ability. The danger of earbuds is we can get desensitized to what is actually going on the gym floor. There are really heavy objects being lifted, dropped, swung, and thrown. Watching where one is going and listening to what is going on around you is essential to create a safe and effective classroom environment.

We love all our kids and CrossFit Kids but want them to be safe. Children are not allowed on the equipment at any time, and must be off the gym floor during classes.

Please control your barbell or any weight when moving it. Please do not drop lightweight barbells from overhead.

If you are injured or not feeling 100% please tell a coach before the workout. Scaling and modified movement is highly recommended even when not dealing with the natural aches and pains of life.

Train Smart and listen to your body. Include the coach to retain stimulus of the workout and make sure you are with the class because the fun is in the community.

Cleaning

Please clean up all metal equipment touched, sweated on, or any other bodily fluid left behind from trying to be super fit. Wipe down equipment but do not directly spray the display screen. Please put away the equipment you use unless advised otherwise by the coach.
