Food, Travel, & Holidays

Travel can be tough in many different ways but especially in regards to food. Once you start that car ride or get in line for security, having good food choices is a cheat code to having a great day. During our recent travels the San Francisco airport had surprisingly good food choices but Boston, goodness, essentially a food desert. While TSA forces you to throw away all liquids, solid foods are available for you to bring. Pack a quality food bag and you will navigate a travel day no problem, everyone is calmer with a full tummy of real whole foods. Once on vacation though it is best to just give yourself grace. Eating quality food should always be on one’s mind when exploring a familiar or a new place. But context matters, local eateries deserve your patronage. The goal in life is balance and you did not go all the way to your destination to constantly be thinking about what you are and are not doing to better your health. Take the moments as they come and find the most delicious, healthy option on the menu and indulge. If it is a little fatty or greasy and brings you joy, have at it! There is always tomorrow to get back on track. Even if you went off the rails and ate pizza three out of the seven nights you were in your home town, well, just know you are going to have a little harder time at the gym (Brian) and that your going to have to start your habits back up with a little extra pain. Cheers to burpees!
