Thoughts Going Into Thanksgiving

Nutrition is the base of the pyramid. CrossFit is built upon training for life. We are forging elite fitness because we are generally prepared for anything life throws our way. Ultimately, we are trying to teach our athletes that we are playing the long game. “MidState CrossFit, Building Lifelong Fitness” is what we have draped across our front door. Coach Brian says it often lately, “We wildly overestimate what we can do in a few months and wildly underestimate what we can do in a few years”. Again, this built around the idea that when you become an athlete at MidState CrossFit motivation is what most members are riding high on but motivation fades. What is left is your habit and if we are doing it correctly coming into MidState CrossFit and getting the WOD completed is as regular an occurrence to you as brushing your teeth.

In Coach Brian’s latest read “You Can’t Screw This Up” it references a quote from Cindy Crawford, arguably the most beautiful woman of the last century, while she makes a delicious holiday pie with the interviewer. “I try to eat 80% good, 80% of the time”. We love this. What she is saying is her dietary choices are simple, consistent, non restrictive and easy to navigate”. As we go into feast season, consider your plate portions, your sides, your desserts. If you are eating 80% good, 80% of your meals then you are right on track to stay down the path you are forging for yourself.
