MSCF Pride - The Numbers
MidState CrossFit is special. We say that but it is difficult to measure magic. The Open allows us an opportunity to enter into the community of CrossFit more broadly and compete with friends, family, and other affiliates in a fun and inclusive way. The Open is our yearly physical, both as individuals and as an affiliate. Indulge me while we dive into the numbers of both our beloved Coach Mast, and MSCF.
Daniel Mast, CF-L3 has been competing in the Open officially since 2016. That year he was ranked the 38307th fittest man on earth at the age of 29. Last year he finished 17140th fittest man on earth, and right now he is currently ranked 9366th worldwide and 1373rd (35-39) after 24.1. This is an incredible story it includes long hours as a first responder, military deployments, a growing family, and life stuff. With all of that said it is measurable and observable that over the past 9 years Dan Mast, is currently fitter and healthier now than he was in his 20s. This is the results of consistency and intensity, good nutritional habits, and a community and family around him that is supportive and affirming. It goes without saying that we are the biggest of fans of what some of us call “Hero Dan”.
MidState CrossFit also is healthier now than at any time in our past. Our coaching staff is World Class. 2, Level 3 Trainers, 7, Level 2 Trainers, 4, Level 1 Trainers, CrossFit Kids Program Certified, multiple Gymnastic Certificate Courses, internships, and continuing education. All this effort we put into our class is resulting in our CrossFit boxes also becoming world class. Let’s look as some more numbers.
In 2024, MidState CrossFit is ranked 365 out of 10752 total affiliates in participation for the CrossFit Open. Ranking us in the Top 3% of participation. Why does this matter? It matters because it puts our culture and community on display. It says “We are CrossFitters”. It matters because this is us living up to our mission statement; “We aspire to be a place where community is not narrowly defined within the walls of our gym.” The CrossFit Open is the largest participatory sporting event the world has ever known, and we are at the top of the list of badass boxes. We put our hats in the ring, we are, (you are) the man in the arena.
We are very proud of all of you who have chosen to be part of this year’s Open, as you participate in the Open year in and year out you too will get a trend of your health and fitness just like Coach Dan has, but that is not all the cool we have to share, it goes one step further.
Not only are we enthusiast participants but we are also crazy fit and healthy. Currently after 24.1 we are ranked in the 70% of fittest gyms (Teams) in the world. That is pretty damn good for a box in Central Valley, California, no D1 schools near by, no crazy population center, just hard working athletes, who are kind and family orientated coming together daily on 15th Street in Merced, California doing, the, damn, thing. We do constantly varied, functional fitness, performed at high intensity, we do CrossFit and it is showing up on the world stage.
