We (Mitch and Cami) are fortunate enough to know  all of our members here at MidState on a personal level. We get to see and hear your successes  first hand. We are so proud of so many of you that we want to start sharing some of your successes with your fellow MidStaters. Thank you guys for helping our vision come to life. Your hard work and dedication to bettering yourselves is a reflection of the community we are so proud to be a part of.

Here is Ron’s story.

“My journey to Midstate …

It all began one Friday morning. My Doctor wanted to go over the results of my recent blood work. She told me she was concerned because my test results showed I was borderline diabetic, had high blood pressure and needed to lose weight. She recommended a lifestyle change by eating healthy and exercising. I needed to eat fruit, vegetables and lean protein…things that I generally tried to avoid. Goodbye fried potatoes.

My wife Samantha and I came up with a game plan. I didn’t want to join a gym because I get bored easily. I wanted to do something fun and wanted someone to train me. I did some research and found Midstate Crossfit.

I decided to see what they had to offer so I made a trip over to check it out. I was pulling in, when I saw a bunch of shirtless guys and fit girls outside looking like they were getting ready to shoot an episode of Baywatch… so I drove right on by.

Maybe this Crossfit thing wasn’t for me. But then I started thinking about what the doctor said and about my family. At the time, my wife was expecting our second son. I knew I wanted to be around for her and our boys for a long, long time… so I turned around and pulled in.

That’s when I first met Mitch. He showed me around the gym, making me feel more than welcome. Seeing how in-shape everybody was, I was confident this was the place I needed to join.

At my first on-ramp, I met the other  half of the dynamic-duo, Cami. She was amazing and encouraged me even though I didn’t think I could do it, she assured me that I could!

I’m sure glad I stuck around. Now I go to the 5:30 am class with all the new friends I’ve made. They make me want to push my body to it’s limits because they are all pushing theirs just as hard. A little friendly competition never hurts either.

Mitch and Cami are awesome coaches, they have given me the tools to help pound my body into the best shape possible. In the 7-8 months I have been at MidState, I have lost almost 20 lbs, lowered my blood pressure and am no longer in danger of becoming diabetic. I’m stronger, faster and healthier than I think I’ve ever been in my life.

My beautiful wife and my sweet baby boys keep me motivated to get up at 4:00 am and drive an HOUR from Mariposa to work out. If I didn’t genuinely enjoy the experience I have at MidState, I wouldn’t keep coming back.

I am thankful for the wake-up from my doctor and for Mitch & Cami making every workout a challenge and helping me achieve my goals. But most of all, I thank God for blessing me with all these amazing people in my life.”
